Player Spotlight is a now a new feature to the John Covello Blog, where once a week a player from either high school, or travel hockey will be spotlighted on the blog for their achievements.
This week's Player Spotlight is:
_RJ Burns from Don Bosco, and the Jersey Hitmen Jr.B (EmJHL). RJ is currently the leading scorer for Don Bosco this season, with 17 goals, 10 assists for 27 points in only 15 games. RJ's goal scoring has improved significantly from last season. Last year he was averaging .72 goals a game, and this season he is averaging 1.13 goals per game. He has nearly surpassed his goal total from last season already. Currently Don Bosco sits in second of the Gordon-National Division, with a league record of (5-3-0).
_The Jersey Hitmen Jr.B Empire team is another team that RJ plays on. He is also a player who has to balance a very busy schedule jumping rink to rink with each team. For the Hitmen he has a 12-14-26 line in 23 games. His statistics include 5 power play goals, and 3 game winning goals. The Hitmen are currently in 3rd place of the Western Conference in the Empire League, and they have already clinched a playoff spot.
_RJ is known as one of the best goal scorers in the State. He will be a key player in the success of the teams he plays on as they move on through the season and into the playoffs.
