This week's Player Spotlight is:
_Matt Beattie from the New Jersey Renegades Jr.B (MJHL) and Pingry. For the Renegades Matt has been lighting it up all season long registering a 21-18-36 line in only 28 games. I forget to mention that he has been doing this from the blue-line. Matt is currently atop the leader board for all Met-League defense in points. This great feat attracts a lot of attention from various scouts in the hockey world. Matt is currently in contact with several division 3 schools, but has aspirations to play division 1 hockey. Matt is on the right track because next year he plans on Post-Graduating at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire.
_Matt also plays for Pingry as a forward. Pingry currently sits atop the Skyland conference, and Matt has a played a big factor in this averaging 3.55 points per game. But playing both high school and juniors is a big challenge for many players, but Matt seems to have it figured out. Matt stated that "it is very important to for me to be able to play for both teams, and really I appreciate that my coaches work together to address conflicts." Matt seems to have the best of both worlds. He was quoted " The organization[Renegades] has been a perfect fit for me and I have developed a lot as a player because of this team." Matt also stated that "high school hockey is a great experience."
_Renegades head coach Cliff Graziano had nothing but good words to say about Matt. "Matt is one of the most respectful, hard working, positive players I've had the privilege to coach over my 15 years of coaching." With that said we would like to congratulate Matt on being the Player Spotlight this week, and we wish him the best of luck with the rest of both his seasons.
